Roveja is a rare and unique heirloom pea variety! It originated in the Sibillini mountains in southeastern Umbria, Italy and had almost become extinct until recently, but is now gaining popularity worldwide. These beautiful peas come in all sorts of colors including earthy shades of blue, brown, green, orange, red, and purple. They are dry beans primarily used for soups, though they have also traditionally been ground into flour. The vines of this plant can get tall requiring trellising.
