China Jade is a Chinese heirloom cucumber that was named because of its beautiful jade colored flesh! It’s an extremely vigorous variety that produces crazy amounts of long, thin green cucumbers. They are extremely sweet, bitter-free, and crisp making them great slicers. It’s easy to see why these are one of the most popular cucumber varieties!
Cucumber Planting Instructions-
Cucumber Seeds can be started indoors and transplanted outdoors for an earlier crop, but we generally recommend direct sowing into the garden. Cucumbers like lots of direct sun light, warm temperatures, and rich, well-draining soil with organic matter. Cucumbers are extremely sensitive to frost and any low temperatures can delay or ruin germination. Once any chance of frost has passed and soil temperatures are consistently above 60-65 degrees (even a night) you can plant. We plant. 3-4 seeds 1 inch deep in slightly elevated mounds, and thin plants to 1 once established. Climbing/Vining varieties that are trellised can be spaced 2-3 feet apart, whereas some bush varieties should be 3-5 feet apart. When in doubt give them extra space. Keep seeds consistently moist and you shou see germination in 3-14 days. Warmer temperatures will generally result in quicker germination times and higher germination rates.
