Description

Spread the love

(Indeterminate/80 Days)
Box Car Willie is a rare old heirloom tomato with an old fashioned tomato taste! Strong plants produce large, slightly flattened, tomatoes that are usually pleated and can weigh well over a pound. They have better than average heat, pest, and disease resistance and produce prolifically in places with longer growing seasons. They have a balanced, but distinct flavor profile and are a mixture of sweet, tangy, and acidic! If you want a tomato that brings back that tomato nostalgia from your childhood, this is a great variety!

Planting Instructions – Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost date. Do not Plant out until 2 weeks after last frost. Tomato seeds require high soil temperatures for good germination rates. We highly recommend heat mats to ensure and speed up germination. Pot up to 3–4 inch pots when first true leaves develop (not cotyledon leaves). Harden off plants for 1-2 weeks in full sun before transplanting them outside (after last frost). Make sure to give tomato plants a lot of space for vigorous root and foliage growth.
