Blue Hubbard is a rare and unique heirloom winter squash! It’s been said that the original seeds arrived in Marblehead, Massachusetts aboard a ship from the West Indies in the 1850’s, and were grown by (or were a favorite of) local Elizabeth Hubbarb. The squash was then cultivated for specific qualities and introduced to the public by J.H. Gregory, of Gregory Seed Company in 1909. These unique squash are blueish grey, football shaped, and can grow up to 40 pounds! The flesh is orange, sweet, and delicious and perfect for baking or making pies. They also have an extremely long shelf life, saving up to 6 months!
