Buena Mulata is a rare and unique heirloom pepper variety that dates back to at least the 1940’s and was cultivated by African American folk artist and vegetable enthusiast Horace Pippen! This is a vigorous variety that produces copious amounts of thin, tapered, peppers that change from an electric purple, to orange, and then finally to red as they ripen. They have a complex sweet and spicy flavor profile when fully mature that make them an absolute must have!
